After the World Bank and Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank dropped their financing plans for the Amaravati Sustainable Infrastructure and Institutional Development Project, the state government plans to utilise their funds to develop key infrastructure, putting the road development on hold for now.
Amaravati is the new capital of Andhra Pradesh after bifurcation of the state. Former Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh had initiated the project to develop the planned city, starting with pooling land along the Krishna riverbank from 29 villages between Vijayawada and Guntur.
