Lockdowns and power cuts: Why industries in Kashmir are suffering

On August 5, 2019, the Narendra Modi led government abrogated Article 370 of the Constitution, which gave special status to the state of Jammu and Kashmir. A lockdown imposed then, was extended after the COVID-19 pandemic struck the country.

Modi had promised that industrial growth will flourish in the region after the abrogation. Suno India’s Irfan Amin Malik visits some industrial areas in Kashmir, speaks and finds out that it is far from reality. The lack of political will, outdated industrial policies, political conflict and electricity crisis are not letting industries grow in this region
