According to the National Crime Records Bureau’s report of 2019, 1.54 lakh people died and 4.39 lakh people were injured in the 4.3 lakh accidents that happened last year. India ranked 1st in the number of road accident deaths across the 199 countries reported in the World Road Statistics of 2018, followed by China and US. As per the WHO Global Report on Road Safety 2018, India accounts for almost 11% of the accident related deaths in the World
*. The maximum number of accident cases were reported in Tamil Nadu, and the maximum fatalities in Uttar Pradesh. Most of the victims were driving two wheelers, and the major cause of accidents is over speeding.
