How to legally adopt children during the covid-19 pandemic?

Many children have been left orphaned during the COVID-19 pandemic. In the recent few months, social media is filled with messages asking people to adopt such orphans.

This is clearly illegal, say our speakers for this episode. Kunika Balhotra, Suno India’s Research and Communications Officer spoke with  Prabhat Kumar, head of Child Protection at Save the Children and Meera Marthi of Where are India’s children to understand the various processes involved in protecting a child at risk, including adoption. Lack of awareness and rampant misinformation around procedures involving legal adoption is putting many children at risk of trafficking and illegal adoptions.
