In the run up to the results of Bihar Assembly Elections 2020, most of the exit polls had predicted that the Grand Alliance (Mahagathbandhan) would have an edge and were likely to form the next government. However, contrary to these predictions, the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) is going to form the government in Bihar, again. How did this happen and why, despite the huge anti-incumbency against him, is Nitish Kumar going to become the CM for the fourth time in a row.
To understand all this, our guest podcaster Mahtab Alam speaks to three guests for the seventh and final episode of Suno India’s special mini-series on Bihar Assembly Elections 2020. The guests are Senior Journalist Bhasha Singh, Researcher and Election Analyst Ashish Ranjan and Public Policy Expert Anindo Banerjee.
In addition to the analysis of the results and the veracity of exit polls and surveys, they also discuss the challenges before the new government, especially in the wake of an election campaign around issues related to Employment, Education, Health and Migration.
